The purpose of this orchard is to produce the highest quality American chestnut seed to be used for reintroduction to the forests of the Berkshires. \nNo experience necessary\, just a willingness to help maintain this orchard and participate in one of the most interesting and important conservation projects of our time\, the restoration of the American chestnut tree. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, and bring along water\, insect repellent\, and sunscreen. \nThe orchard is located about ¼ mile on the dirt road in the park.
