DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Maine TACF Annual Meeting April 26 at Viles Arboretum in Augusta!\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				All are welcome and encouraged to attend the annual meeting of the Maine Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation on Saturday\, April 26 at 1:00 PM at Viles Arboretum (153 Hospital St\, Augusta\, ME). Chapter officers Mark McCollough and Eva Butler will give a presentation on Chestnuts Across Maine\, an exciting new chapter initiative to plant chestnut trees at schools\, conservation partners\, and land trusts across Maine. We will have a brief election of board members for the coming year. Chestnut seeds and seedlings will be available for sale (see information about sales elsewhere in the newsletter). Afterward\, we will take a field trip to Readfield\, Maine (about 45 minutes away) to visit one of Maine’s largest surviving chestnut trees. Join us in a family-fun event. SUMMARY:American Chestnut Day in Maine
DESCRIPTION:Join us for American Chestnut Day on July 24 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Viles Arboretum in Augusta\, Maine. This special event will coincide with the new Viles Auditorium (VA) educational building ribbon cutting. There will be a presentation about American chestnut restoration efforts in Maine and a tour of chestnut plantings at the arboretum. American chestnut trees will be available for $15 each. As an added bonus\, five foot tree tubes will be available for the trees you purchase to protect them from voles and deer helping ensure your chestnuts get a healthy head start. \nWe encourage you to attend this presentation and tour\, stroll the grounds and enjoy the trees along with the arboretum’s many unique outdoor granite sculptures. This fun and educational experience will celebrate the successes of the ME-TACF Chapter. The chapter will also conduct its board meeting at 1:00 PM and guests are welcome to sit in on that as well. \n
