The American Chestnut tree was almost extinct. Blight had all but eradicated this native tree until dedicated scientists, volunteers, and some insightful celebrities like Dolly Parton, President Jimmy Carter and musician Chuck Leavell banded together to bring the species back from the brink. Join RIFF, The Historic DeSoto Theatre and The GA Chapter of the American Foundation for a fascinating film with important ties to Northwest Georgia.
Moderated by Kathy Patrick, past president and vice president of The GA Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation, the discussion after the film will also include Dr. Martin Cipollini, Professor of Biology at Berry College, and Lisa Thomson who was instrumental in making the film and managing celebrity appearances.
