Do you like to dig holes? We will be digging about 800 of them for an advanced research field trial of all different types of chestnuts on the state nursery grounds on Friday, October 18 from 0900 until finished. This will be a field trial to complement a detailed greenhouse replicate tested by early assay methods for blight resistance. We’ll learn alot about how different types of chestnuts respond to the blight and the effectiveness of early assay methods in predicting field success. This will be a wonderful exercise day, as the site, like most of the state, is quite rocky!
