Pennsylvania / New Jersey

Many thanks to all the members and supporters of the PA/NJ Chapter who make a difference by giving their time and talent to our organization.

grace-chestnut-3-300x225Whether you are a member of our Board or manage a research orchard, represent TACF at outreach events or give presentations to interested groups, your contribution is moving us closer to the restoration of the American chestnut to our native woodland.

There are so many many volunteers to thank. One volunteer story I would like to share is that of Grace Martin of Fayette City, PA: Grace created a display and presentation on the American chestnut for the members of the Martha Washington Garden Club in Washington, PA at their annual Garden Show, this past year. Many thanks to Grace for making the story of the American chestnut part of this event. She contacted our office and we provided her with handouts and membership information. According to Grace, there was a good bit of interest in her display and the story of the American chestnut. We would like to congratulate her on winning the Educational Award Ribbon given by the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania. One of the comments the judges made about the table display was the concise information, and all the handout information that was available.

Here is short slide show with some images of volunteer events from 2015 and previous years:
