After Decades of Blight, Mainers Could Help Save the American Chestnut Tree

TACF Maine Chapter member and University of New England (UNE) Professor, Dr. Thomas Klak is featured in this article about the work being done in Maine, particularly at UNE, to bring back the American chestnut tree. Four germplasm orchards were planted in the state this summer by Klak, his students, and research partners to help preserve the genetic diversity of the surviving chestnut trees in Maine’s forests.
