12th Annual West Virginia Chestnut Festival

October 13, 2019

Join members of the WV-TACF Chapter along the Cheat River in Rowlesburg Park for the 12th Annual West Virginia Chestnut Festival on October 13, 2019. The festival honors the iconic American chestnut tree and celebrates TACF’s research efforts to return the tree to its native range. Many events and activities will take place throughout the day. From noon until 5:00PM, browse crafts made from chestnut, purchase chestnut seedlings, and enjoy lots of good food, including roasted chestnuts! The Chestnut Gala Dinner will take place at 5:30PM and will feature keynote speaker, Rex Mann, retired forester and KY-TACF Chapter member, who shared his moving story about the American chestnut at a TEDx Talk in the fall of 2018. Rex will share that same talk, “An American Tragedy: How a Mass Extinction Can Help Save Our Forest,” at the gala dinner. To learn more about this event, click here.
