A painting of American chestnut leaves by Coreysha Stone.
This fundraiser and art exhibition opens June 2 and will remain on view until June 29 at the Rising Tide Co-op in Damariscotta, Maine (map below). “Bringing Back the Giants of the Forest” will combine the efforts of Coreysha Stone, artist and educator, and Eric Evans, breeding coordinator for the ME-TACF Chapter. The purpose is to raise awareness about the American chestnut tree and garner support for its restoration.
An opening reception and wine tasting that includes a hands-on-learning program, presented by Evans, will be held on June 7 from 5:00-7:00PM. The presentation will focus on the ME-TACF Chapter breeding program that is working to develop a blight-tolerant American chestnut.
