We will be planting an advanced research plot of about 800 chestnut trees in a field resistance trial to evaluate all types of chestnut trees from throughout the breeding program on the same site. This is an important field replicate of a detailed greenhouse inoculation trial meant to test both the trees and early assay methods of resistance and will help us improve our ability to screen chestnuts for blight resistance. We’ve got a lot of trees so we need your help! It’s also a good chance to see the variability among different chestnut seedlings, and to get a look at the state forest nursery.
