Come help plant 200 potentially root rot -esistant seeds at Cumberland State Forest! These trees will be monitored for root rot susceptibility and resistant trees will be incorporated into our breeding program. Planting will take place on April 2nd at 751 Oak Hill Rd, Cumberland, VA 23040. Note: this is an old house and we will be planting behind the house in a big field.
We plan to start around 10:30 am and will finish once all the seeds are planted- this should take 4 or more hours. Tasks will include making and applying deer shelters, planting seeds, mixing potting soil, and labeling planting spaces. Please bring water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, gardening gloves, and dress for the weather! Note: date will be rescheduled if it rains.
Hope to see you there! Please RSVP by emailing: cassie.stark@tacf.org. Reach out if you have any questions! Phone: 540-217-6915
