Fighting Back from Extinction

Published January 9, 2019

“To do something that has never been done before, to bring a species back from oblivion, is the result of research and teamwork by partners who want to restore the tree to its nearly mythic glory.” This is just a taste of an article about American chestnut restoration from The Ag Magazine, a publication out of the University of Kentucky (UK). The article covers everything from the pathogens responsible for the tree’s near demise to the collaborative work being done at the University, all in an effort to return the American chestnut to its native range.
