TACF is a Living Wage Employer certified through nonprofit Just Economics. In 2018, the living wage rate in Western North Carolina is $13.00/hr or $11.50/hr with employer provided health insurance. We are one of 400+ employers certified in the Asheville region.
We value our employees and this certification is a testament to that. A “living wage” is the minimum amount that a worker must earn to afford their basic necessities, without public or private assistance.
Studies have shown that paying a living wage leads to increased worker morale, worker health and quality of service. Paying a living wage also lowers absenteeism, turnover rates, and recruiting and training costs. Living wages enable working people to become self-sufficient and rely less on social services. They also stimulate the economy through increased consumer spending and the money multiplier effect.
