The Forest Festival in Elkins, WV celebrates all aspects of WV forests. The WV-TACF chapter had a chestnut display that offered not only a history of the tree and the devastation caused by the chestnut blight fungus, but also nuts and burs, cankered stems, leaves and twigs, and plates of the chestnut blight fungus, with and without virus. The display was set up by Dr. Brian Perkins and volunteers included Brian, Amy Metheny and Mark Double. Jeff Kochenderfer provided a scientific poster with great historic photos. The display was visited by Smokey Bear and Forest Festival royalty, Queen Sylvia and her maids.
