CT Chapter Chestnut Walk at Bush Hill Preserve, Manchester

Chestnut Walk at Bush Hill    Saturday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m.
Meet at the cider barn, 330 Bush Hill Road, Manchester and walk to our Chestnut tree gardens. Jack Swatt, President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation, will describe the mission of the Foundation and show us the work that has been taking place. Volunteers have planted and weeded. This will be about a 1.5-mile walk round trip. More about the Foundation’s mission: “restoring a population of healthy chestnut trees to the eastern U.S. hardwood forest. A GCO (germplasm conservation orchard) contains seedlings from different mother trees…It’s an orchard collection of diverse wild American chestnut sources, primarily native to Connecticut.”
