The chestnut trees along the Goodwin Trail at Nehantic State Forest in East Lyme are among the largest surviving American chestnut trees in Connecticut. We will take about a one mile hike along the trail to observe these beautiful trees during their peak flowering. Some off trail hiking will be required to see the second tree. Meet at the parking area at the end of Holmes Rd. Bring plenty of drinking water and comfortable hiking shoes. Please bring a mask as all current social distancing rules will be utilized for everyone’s safety.
