Lyles Farm Orchard, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission

On April 5, 2018, the first 100 chestnut seeds were planted. The orchard was created on land originally owned by the Lyles family and is now owned by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) in partnership with the American Chestnut Foundation.

Trees: The first 100 seed nuts planted were a cross of Monocacy tree # 229 (TW50 x MD 36A) x Winkler 21A .
Location: This backcross orchard is located at 13814 Brighton Dam Road near Clarksville.
