This presentation gives an overview of History, Design, Structure, Details, Finishes, Regulations, and Maintenance of log construction, with an emphasis on the prominent use and characteristics of American chestnut wood.
Jack is an Architect licensed in Virginia since 1981 with a practice, John S. LaMonica, AIA, Architect, in Marshall, specializing in custom, historic, residential, commercial design and consulting. He has been a volunteer since 2006; locating, identifying, pollinating, harvesting and planting American chestnuts, chinquapins and Butternuts, and is currently the Virginia Chapter President and board member of The American Chestnut Foundation.
