MDTACF is planting almost 900 chestnut seeds as part of a common garden experiment at the University of Maryland’s Western Maryland Research and Education Center (WMREC) in Keedysville, MD. 18330 Keedysville Rd, Keedysville, MD. Note: address will take you to office, we will put up signs to get to the orchard.
We will be planting seed from throughout the range from our best performing trees in order to test their blight resistance and inform our future breeding decisions. As this is part of a “common garden” study, this is one of four sites in which these crosses are being planted.
Please come out and help us plant to restore this tree!
This will be an all-day activity starting at 9 am. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and dress for the weather! If you have gardening gloves or an extra wheel barrel please bring it as well.
Please RSVP with this form if you plan to attend.
