The Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center announces an autumn Chestnut Harvest Party. Learn about the history of the American Chestnut while enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving dinner including chestnut cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, acorn squash, green beans, cranberry sauce, dessert and of course a turkey. There will also be a variety of fun family activities.
The Feast will be held at the Coastal Center, 1 Milford Point Rd., Milford, on Saturday November 19th at 2:00PM. Sandra L. Anagnostakis of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station will present the history of the chestnut. A leading expert on American Chestnuts, Anagnostakis will bring hybrid seedlings and nuts for people to take home.
