CT-TACF 2026 Tentative Spring Orchard Planting Schedule

We will be planting chestnuts at several of our orchards this spring.  The schedule below is tentative and may be changed for weather or other circumstances.  This schedule will be updated regularly as additional plantings get added or need to be rescheduled.  Bring work gloves and plenty of water, and protection from sun and ticks.

Saturday, June 6th  10:00 AM – 12:00 PM  Litchfield, Wigwam Brook Preserve orchard, Lipeka Rd.  Planting and orchard dedication ceremony.  See event details here: https://tacf.org/event/ct-chapter-wigwam-brook-chestnut-orchard-dedication/.

Sunday, June 7th 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM  Stafford, Norcross Seed Orchard, 10 Lamb Rd, Stafford.

Monday, June 8th 1:00 PM Mansfield, Joshua’s Trust office at 624 Wormwood Hill Rd. in Mansfield.

Tuesday, June 9th 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Willington, We will be starting a new orchard in Willington on private property.  Please contact moc.liamg@retpahctc.fcat if you would like to help.  Directions will be provided.

Sunday, June 14th  10:00 AM – 1:00 PM Winchester Land Trust Hurlbut Field chestnut orchard, 670 Grantville Rd., Winchester Center.  Park at the kiosk and follow the trail to the chestnut orchard.

Quite a few around us in CT, but none that big. I assume what we are seeing are stump sprouts.

God, I hope it has developed genetic resistance and passes that on. I want to live in a world full of American Chestnuts and Elms again

At my art residency in WV there was an American chestnut tree in their yard! I cried! I collected some of the seed pods
